And the Winner is...
More wedding dress shopping. I had decided that I was just going to try on the final two, but I was looking through the catalog and there were a lot of dresses that I didn't get to try on. So I picked about four to try on again. But I when I went to the official David's Bridal website I got to see some pictures of real people trying the clothes on and ended up omitting a couple of the dresses. So I decided to try on two new dresses and retry one of the dresses from Saturday, along with the two frontrunners.
Unfortunately on Thursday got a call that the consultant from Saturday, Bianca, had an emergency and wouldn't be able to come in. I thought about re-scheduled but didn't feel like waiting. I wanted to try on the new dresses, primarily so I could give myself the chance to try on as many dresses as possible and rule some out. But I also worried about too many dresses and not be able to make any decisions which almost happened.
I tried on the first dress and was really surprised about how much I liked it. Obviously I liked the dress enough in the catalog to want to try it on, but it was tenth on my list so I didn't have high expectations for it at this point. But I really liked it. I think the lace on it really was an advantage for it. It looked way better in person than in the catalog or the pictures I took. I had to almost laugh, thinking that possibly after worrying for days about which of the other two dresses I would pick, that I might end up picking something else.

I still wanted to proceed with the other dresses. I was worried about how this consultation would go because I ended up loving the next dress as well.

I ended up letting Jean and even the consultant to push me around a little with this dress. I really liked it but Jean really didn't and the consultant Jenn kind of pushed me to make a decision between this dress and the first one. she was really nice and sweet for the most part and it probably was a good thing that she was kind of insistent because I could have been there all day with how indecisive I was being. So I decided to put the second dress away and keep the first one on the backburner.
I tried the dress again with the diamond encrusted belt. The dress really wasn't cooperating with the bra and the bra kept showing. I liked the bottom of the dress but the top really wasn't working.
So it was time for the top two. I swear I could have been in the store all day. I still loved them both. I decided to try on the first dress from that day again. After trying on the ruffle dress, putting that dress on again wasn't a great comparison. I liked the dress but I didn't feel strongly enough about it. So it was down to the final two finally. I wanted to try them on again. I also wanted tell Jean to not say anything and just let me look at the dress but I couldn't figure out a way to say it without being rude. She kept saying how the lace dress was perfect. When I tried it on the second time, I remembered why I liked it so much the first time. I was almost ready to call it for the lace dress, especially when I sat down and saw how much cleavage the dress provided, which is something Michael wants. But I wanted to try the ruffle dress again. I tried it on and there was just something about that dress that I just felt happier in. And earlier the consultant had asked what kind of wedding I wanted, more elegant or more fun and while I do want a classy affair, when I think of my wedding I don't really think elegant, but I think I want it more fun so I think that gave the edge to the ruffles too. So after a little more hemming and hawing I officially said I would choose that dress.
At David's Bridal they have a tradition once you choose your dress, they give you a bell to ring while you close your eyes and make a wish for your wedding day. Jean took a video of it on her phone, but I can't figure out how to upload it here yet.
Almost immediately after picking the dress there were more decisions to make. The dress I was trying on was soft white and the beading on the bodice was in gold. But I wanted a white dress and the white dress came with silver beading. Now I prefer silver. But I the soft white/gold combo was really starting to grow on me and Jean agreed. Luckily, they had a dress in white, just not in my size. I held it against me and decided to go for the white and silver. They didn't have the dress in petite so they were going to order a 14 W. But they didn't have a 14W. So I had to decide to either go with 16W or 14 regular. The consultants said that it would be better to go with the women's size because of my chest and that the women's size would be easier to alter. So we ordered the dress in 16W. We also got the slip and bra for the dress. I was thinking of going with the veil I tried on, but decided to not order it yet and shop around for that. So the latest the dress will get here is August 22.
I still think about the lace dress in the back of my mind but I think no matter which dress I picked I would still be thinking about the other one a little bit. I probably could have spent twenty years trying to pick between them. There's still work with alterations and weight loss to really make it perfect, but I do love the dress I picked.

I think that once the dress comes and I get it in the right size and get the alterations done, I'll love the dress even more.

I made my own dress and veil (*cough* in 1978 *cough*) and hand-crocheted nine yards of lace to trim it with. I was so proud of that veil!

I do think I might incorporate something lace into the dress.

I really do like both dresses. I honestly prefer the second a bit, and I'm afraid to say that because I got a bit confused while reading and I'm not exactly positive which you ended up choosing, and I certainly don't want you second guessing now! They are both very lovely.

Like I said, I seriously could have been there for days. I've seen people talk about how tough it is to choose and they definitely are not lying.

The dress you picked looks fluffy and playful and if you feel good in it then it's all that matters. :)
I'm more of a simple lines style girl, so I'd probably go for something like you're wearing in the first picture. Well, even then it would be different because I doubt I'd feel comfortable in strapless dress. I'd be constantly checking if it's holding properly. :D

I usually go for things that are a lot more simple, but that just dress just spoke to me. I think I've always had my heart on a strapless dress. I'm only slightly worried about making sure it stays up properly. So far the undergarment they gave me works like a charm and almost every dress stayed up just fine.
