Yeah, the After Elton poll made my head hurt after awhile. It wasn't just the Sterek fans fighting, but I didn't like some of what some of their fans had to say. And it was one of the reasons I didn't start watching the show after the poll, because I needed a break. And it probably isn't fair to compare because technically the poll wasn't about who was the best couple, but I was also horribly disappointed when Sterek beat Merthur in that poll. Sterek couldn't compare to the other three couples in the final four, bond-wise.
I think it's great that the actors and HW are enjoying the fan's love of Sterek and supporting it. I hope he does go through with it and really makes them a viable couple and builds them up properly, since it's not really happening now.
I think I could enjoy a good modern AU Sterek fic.
