[livejournal.com profile] rotrude asked for L: Is there a section of canon above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?

For Merlin I don't think there's one particular section that inspires me more than any other. There are scenes and episodes that I like and can inspire me, like Merlin's goodbye speech to Arthur in "Le Morte d'Arthur", "The Last Dragonlord", simpleton!Arthur from "The Sword in the Stone" part 1.

For Teen Wolf since Scott/Isaac is my favorite pairing I definitely get inspired by the moment Scott tells Isaac he doesn't want him to get hurt in "Raving", in "Battlefield" several moments like when Deaton shows Isaac that he can absorb the dog's pain, Isaac tells Scott he trusts him, and when he shows up at the lacrosse. I'm definitely really inspired by Isaac moving in with Scott in "Unleashed."

[livejournal.com profile] the_redjay asked for H and W.

H: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

This was a hard one to figure out. So I'm going to cheat and choose four.

The first one is a Merlin/Arthur bit from my story "Don't Be Scared, It's Only Love." I like it because I think banter is one of my strength and this one has great banter and really establishes Merlin and Arthur's relationship.

A Simple Request )

The next three are from my Torchwood story "Stop All the Clocks" which was a Torchwood version of Four Weddings & A Funeral. It wasn't my first story, but it was the first one I'd written in over ten years and I would think that it would make me cringe more than my other stories, but I went over it and I actually quite enjoyed it. I'm proud that it, at least for me, still holds up, and that while I used a lot of dialogue from the movie, I made up a lot on my own.

This next bit is one of my favorites. When I was looking through stories for my favorite bits of dialogue I read Owen's line about asking invasive questions and not getting punched in the face and laughed. I think it's very Owen.

Invasive questions )

I just like the banter in this one, especially from Ianto. Also when I started I wasn't sure how to transfer the wedding dress montage in the movie to the story and make it work for suits, but I like the outfits I wrote for Jack.

Suit Shopping )

I like the Doctor's speech in this. I think it's very him and sweet without being cloying.

Day 29 - Current TV show obsession

It's still Merlin. I have a lot of new shows that I really like, but nothing I've become obsessed with and I really hope I keep it that way. Merlin is still keeping me plenty busy.

Day 30 - Saddest character death.

*Spoilers ahead for Merlin and Torchwood*

This is fairly easy. Ianto's death on Torchwood: Children of Earth - Day 4 and Arthur's death on Merlin - "The Diamond of the Day, Part 2."

I was actually spoiled the morning of Ianto's death about it happening. But I just could not believe that RTD would be stupid enough to do it, especially after already killing Owen and Tosh. And then it happened, and I was in such a serious funk for a long time. I still miss the character and still cuse RTD for not only killing him, but for being such a twat about it in interviews.

The scene itself was amazing, just because Gareth David-Lloyd and John Barrowman were brilliant in it and managed to convey the love between the two of them in such a heartbreaking way. I've only managed to watch that scene a couple of times. It's just too gut-wrenching still.

In a way Ianto's death, kind of allowed me to cope a little better with Arthur's. I'm still really sad about Arthur's death, every now and then I'll think about it and I get really sad, but it's taken me a lot shorter time to get back to normal. It also helps that there is that glimmer of hope that Arthur will return to Merlin one day.

Like GDL and JB, Colin Morgan and Bradley James were utterly amazing in their performance of the scene. The connection between Arthur and Merlin was on fine display throughout the whole episode, but I really defy anyone to watch their last scene and not be able to see the love between them. "Just hold me..." UGGHHH...kills me. I've only been able to watch that scene once. Colin Morgan's utter despair and wailing cry to Kilgarrah after Arthur's gone is soul crushing.

Day 24 - Best quote

It's really hard to narrow this down to one, especially when I think of all the Friends quotes I'd have to choose from. So I'll just narrow it down to the three that popped into my head right now.

From Friends:
Joey: Ugh, it is so hard to shop for girls.
Chandler: Yes, yes it is - at Office Max!

From Torchwood:
Ianto: Mobiles! Landlines! Tin cans with bits of string. Everything, absolutely everything. No phones. Phones all broken. Hello? Anyone there? No. Because the phones aren't working!

From Merlin:
Arthur: I could take you apart with one blow.
Merlin: I could take you apart with even less than that.

Day 20 - Favorite kiss

Definitely Jack/Ianto's kiss in Torchwood's "To the Last Man." It's actually kind of what got me into the show. I'd been watching some YouTube vids with gay couples in it. I'd seen Jack/Ianto a couple of times. I thought Jack/John Barrowman was so HOT and kind of thought the other guy was a little eh (which makes me laugh because not only did I come to adore and become majorly obsessed with Gareth-David Lloyd/Ianto, but I had the same reaction when I first saw Merlin. Bradley James took my breath away and I thought Colin Morgan was just alright. Now I still think Bradley is the hottest thing to ever hot, but Merlin became my favorite and I drool over Colin.) Anyway, I saw the kiss from TTLM in a YT vid and going gaga over it. I watched it multiple times. I then sought out some specific Jack/Ianto and Torchwood vids. After a month or two, I got Torchwood on Netflix.

Day 21 - Favorite ship

Will forever and always be Merlin/Arthur. I don't think I'll ever love a couple like them. The chemistry, the banter, the eye fucking, the friendship, the hotness, the deep and everlasting connection, the hotness, the chemistry (I've mentioned chemistry and hotness already but those two really can't be overstated.) They were the total package.

Day 22 - Favorite series finale

It would have probably been Merlin if it weren't for those last five minutes. So I will choose Friends. It's the only recent series finale that I can think of that I truly enjoyed and that everythign I wanted to happen, happened. No one died and my favorite couple reunited beautifully.

Here are the answers to my fan favorites meme.

[livejournal.com profile] dk323 asked for Merlin:

Favorite character: Merlin, by a small margin over Arthur
Least favorite character: Kilgarrah
Character with the best hair: Morgana(circa series 1-3 because after that, yikes!)
Character with the best eyes: (tie) Merlin/Arthur (I find their eyes to be almost identical, so it's hard to pick)
Character with the best smile: Merlin
Character I'd most want to kiss: I think I'm developing a bit of a theme here, but I'd like to kiss both Merlin and Arthur
Character I'd most likely fuck: Same as above. Merlin/Arthur.
Character I'd make lunch for: Merlin (Some of Gaius's dishes looked kind of iffy to him. Merlin needs more people taking care of him.)
Character I'd go singing in the rain with: Arthur. (He probably couldn't carry a note, but it would be nice to see him cut loose.)
Character I'd go shopping with: Morgana (again circa series 1-3. Because after that she'd just be grumbling about death to Arthur and that would get old fast.)
Character I'd go dancing with: Gwaine. (He'd just be huge fun.)
Character I'd take over the world with: Merlin.
Character I most want to see more of: Lancelot. (Killing him off twice was nuts. His relationships with Merlin, Gwen, and Arthur needed to be explored more.)
Favorite pairing: Merlin/Arthur, hands down!
