I actually think we see a lot of teachers on the show besides the coach. There was that annoying douche teacher that was killed in 3A. Deaton's sister was a guidance counselor. Gerard was a principal. Allison and Lydia's moms were/are teachers. I don't think I've seen coach do anything that falls outside what he as a coach/teacher would do. Like he was the one taking the kids out of town in 3A because they were going on a sports trip. I think with Melissa, since she's basically the only regular/important character that works on the hospital, they use her a lot, since they don't seem to want to hire many extras.
I don't really think Allison was really too aggressive. I think she was more confident once she had experience with Scott and she took the lead with Isaac a couple of times, but she's still strikes me as very awkward and not necessarily overly confident with her sexuality, like Lydia is. She's not in your face about it.
I do think sometimes this show does have the characters a little too sexually aggressive, but I don't think it's as bad about it as some other shows. Sex is not a really big aspect of the show.
