Things started off so well, I should have known it would go pear shaped quickly. My boyfriend Michael had this weird rotating schedule where every four weeks he'd have off two days during the week, and then the next four he'd be able to have Sundays off. Well, now he's gotten a new co-worker(which is actually a good thing because the previous one was a lazy git) so now he won't have Sundays off. For the first week the new schedule took effect he'd have to work almost a week straight before he had another day off. So to prepare for that we spent almost the entire day in bed together. Not doing anything dirty(get your minds out of the gutter) but we just cuddled and watched TV all day. Whch was great in itself. One of the things we watched was Merlin which made it even better. We did a five episode marathon, including the first three episodes of series 4(my favorite.) I was busted in my Merlin/Arthur love at one point. I was smiling suring all the good M/A moments. But while we were watching the scene in "The Darkest Hour, Part 2" at the beginning where Arthur sends a sick Merlin off with Lancelot, my boyfriend turned to look at me and, of course, I had the stupidest grin on my face. He asked what I was smiling at. I tried to play it off at first but then I had to admit my M/A love and that I loved how protective Arthur was being. He called me a "little weirdo." But he said it with a big smile on his face. He likes to tease me about the weird things I like. Anyway, the smiles continued throughout the rest of the episode
The next day, all of aside, in the evening I started to feel that my throat was sore. During the last few months, I've felt the beginnings of a sore throat and it's usually gone away rather quickly. So, I thought it would this time too. But no such luck. It started to get worse pretty fast. Plus, some of my muscles were aching. Mike told me about this thing he'd read about and done himself, where he boils some water with salt and cayenne pepper and gargles with it. It alleviates the symptoms of the sore throat for a little bit. So I tried it and it worked pretty fast. So the next day I tried the cayenne pepper water and Chloraseptic all day. My throat felt better that day and the next. Two days after it started my throat really felt better. But I was a little skeptical because I usually don't get over colds that fast. Sure enough the next day, the sore throat was back. And the cayenne pepper water was not really working anymore. It started to get worse as the day went on. I started drinking a lot of tea. By the next day, it was worse than it was the first day. By the end of the night, I was actually starting to cry from how painful it was to swallow. So I decided to examine my mouth/throat. To really look I had to use a flashlight, and saw that there was this white ball on one of my tonsils. It wasn't the first time I'd seen that. It had happened a few months ago. But it wasn't on my tonsil and not nearly as painful. So I went online to see what it might be. I read that it could possibly be a tonisl stone(then I started to worry about having to get my tonsils out) or it could just be a sore throat. So I did what was suggested and gargled with warm water and took ibuprofen for the pain. And kept drinking tea like it was going out of style. The throat's starting to feel a little better, but the ball is still there. Though it looks more like a speck now. I just want to be completely ok. I haven't been able to kiss my boyfriend in almost a week. And on top of that, while this was going on I got a big zit on my forehead. Thanks, Universe! Though I suppose I shouldn't get too lippy with the universe since my sickness could have been a lot worse and the zit has cleared up in a relatively short time.
Also this weekend, reading everyone's accounts of Comic-Con made me so jealous and really wanting to go. I was watching coverage on it on G4. Michael came home and started watching some of it with me. I wasn't sure what he would think of it. But, without any prodding from me, he said that it was something he thinks he'd like to go to. So I got all excited and am hopeful, cost permitting, maybe we'll get to go next year.
Also, during my sickness, I decided to do a little Friends marathon. I especially wanted to show Michael the episode where a sick Monica tries to get Chandler to have sex with her(trying to give him a not subtle hint to lift the kissing ban.) The laughing wasn't the greatest for my throat, but it was fun. At one point Monica gets upset because Chandler doesn't call her his best friend. So kind of teasing/joking/half seriously asked my boyfriend if I was his best friend. Without hesitation he said yes. So that made me feel very nice.
But then things got sucky again. I had to re-schedule Michael's dentist appointment a few weeks ago because his new work roatation clashed with the initial date. I know I set it for a Tuesday, because that's the only day he has guaranteed off. But when he got to the dentist appointment on Tuesday, they told him it was for the next day. So he had to leave after a wasted trip. About 30 seconds later he calls me back, and I wonder what it could be now. Well, now his car won't start. I had to find his jumper cable box and get down there. He thinks it's something with the battery. We go and get a new battery. By the time we get back to the car to try and put the new battery in we can see a huge dark cloud covering the sky. We have to haul ass because it'll be downpouring soon. Unfortunately, the car still won't start. We try to jump his car with mine, and it still won't work. But the time we're done with that it's pouring now. We don't have time to close the hood on my car. We try to wait out the rain but Mike can tell that the rain won't be letting up anytime soon. So I have to get out of the car with my cheap umbrella to let him out because my passenger door won't open from the inside and he needs to ask the dentist people if he can leave his car in their parking lot. We both, him more than me, get more than a little wet. Luckily, his mom has a friend who towed his car later back to the house.
I'm hoping the rest of this week calms down, I feel better, and I can do some writing.

Date: 2012-07-19 03:43 pm (UTC)Smiling at Merlin and Arthur's love isn't being weird, it's totally natural! From the very first time I watched the first episode I've been grinning at their love. Maybe that makes me weird too, though. Oh well, being normal is overrated anyway.

Date: 2012-07-20 01:38 am (UTC)You know, my bf caught the same sickness a few months ago. His was so bad, he had two of those 'white balls' on his throat and it stayed for five weeks! He took so many kinds of meds but nothing worked... but he got better, slowly, eventually. We figured it was because of the moody weather. Anyway, I hope you get better soon!!!
Oh, you guys might be going to Comic Con! I'm so excited for you! Your boyfriend seems like a really nice guy! *D* <333
*huuugs* The smallest things can ruin a whole week... *crosses fingers that things start looking up* <333

Date: 2012-07-20 02:17 am (UTC)Thanks for the well wishes. Glad your boyfriend got better. If I had to deal with this for five weeks I would be one whiny, not happy camper. So far today I feel almost fully better. But still crossing my fingers and hoping I don't relapse like before.
He really is the best. :D It's definitely not anywhere close to a done deal yet. It would definitely depend on how much the tickets cost; Mike is pretty frugal. Plus, I don't know if he'd had the patience to wait in every line for ten hours(so I've managed to neglect telling him about that part :))
*hugs back* Things are starting to get a little better. Like I said, I'm starting to feel a little better. Mike figured out what was wrong with the car and it's fixed now.
Hope things continue to look up for you at work.
